Margherita Torretta affirms her artistic personality through her passion for music, fashion deisgn, photography, poetry and dance, with the mission of expressing the value of beauty understood as a set of human qualities such as determination, courage and elegance.
Margherita is recognized as a great performer for her ability to perform Scarlatti’s keyboard sonatas, which she made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2016 thanks to the Debut International Piano Competition who awarded her the First degree Diploma and the Carnegie Hall memoral medal.
Margherita has given concerts in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, England, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, United States, Japan, in concert halls such as auditorium Arturo Toscanini of Teatro Alla Scala, Sala Verdi, Sala Puccini and Villa Reale in Milan, the ALTI hall in Kyoto, representing the nation Italy in the 23th Kyoto international piano festival, the Steinway Hall in London, the Marcello Amphitheater and Sala Baldini in Rome, Ehrbar Saal in Wien, The Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida, the college of Tchaikosvky Conservatory of Moscow, the Conservatory Maurice Ravel of Paris, the concert hall of Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, the great hall of mirrors at Palacio Foz in Lisbon and many others.
Born in Italy, a small town in the province of Piacenza, Margherita interrupts the classical dance for which she won two international scholarships at the Teatro Nuovo in Turin, to devote herself to piano and music in old age, achieving with honors studies at the local conservatory G. Nicolini. Later she perfected her studies at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan and received a substantial scholarship from the German foundation “Theo Lieven” to attend the Master in Performance and Interpretation at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, completed with honors. At the same time she is given the opportunity to be a student at the prestigious Lake Como Academy directed by the pianist and professor William Grant Naborè, having there the great chance to grow artistically with Charles Rosen ,Dmitri Baskirov, Fout’s ong, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Malcon Bilson and Vladimir Mitchouk .
As a member of ICPA foundation based in Brussels with Professor Nelson Delle Vigne Fabbri and Presidents Jerome Lowenthal and Jerome Kugler as its founders, she received advice from Eugen Indjic, Bruno Rigutto, Michel Béroff, Piotr Folkert, Mikhail Karpov, Roberta Rust, Irena Kofman and Juan Olaya.
The passion for the visual arts as the photography, led her to collaborate with the famous British photographer Sophie Mayenne for the world project “Behind The Scars” with the aim of witnessing a feminine beauty that deviates from the models of aesthetic perfection imposed by today’s society.
Margherita regularly teaches in UK and abroad, organizing improvement courses and masterclasses geared to promote the medical studies done by professors Laurent Boullet and Eckart Altenmuller specialized in the right use of hands and body on the keyboard; she is piano professor of IMF, the international summer music festival based in Munich and she is dedicated to chamber music with the German violinist Aloisia Dauer.
Margherita currently lives in London.
